Rev. Dr. Charles W. Thurman, Jr.

Rev.  Dr. Charles Wesley Thurman Jr. was born to the parents of Charles and Yvonne Thurman in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He has always had a zeal for God and ministry ever since he was a little child and has been singing, directing choirs, preaching and building the kingdom of God.  

 

This past May he celebrated 11 years of marriage to his lovely bride Christina Thurman. He has four children, Caiden Elijah Thurman, Cailum Joshua Thurman, Cailah Elizabeth Thurman and  Caisey Jada Thurman.

Dr. Thurman  graduated from IUPUI with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. He has also graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, Wesley Seminary with a Master's of Divinity. On April 25th, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree with a focus in Transformational Leadership from Wesley Seminary.

Dr. Thurman was called to the ministry at the age of sixteen and served under his father’s leadership, The Rev. Charles Wesley Thurman Sr., at the Liberation AME Zion Church in Indianapolis, Indiana as minister of music, and a staff minister. He became a member of the Indiana Conference of the AME Zion church as a Traveling Minister in 2012. He was ordained Deacon under the hands of Bishop Darryl B. Starnes in 2014 and Elder in 2016. His first pastorate was served at Alive AME Zion Church in Noblesville, Indiana, where he planted and served for 3 years.

Dr. Thurman has a passion for ministry and the work of Christ. He desires to be purposeful in creating ministry that is innovative and transformative, particularly for young adults, and desires to be instrumental in the expansion of the kingdom of God to the glory of God.
